Four of us today with Alex, Chris, Dick and Lawrence. The plan was to sort out the ragwort in the orchard at Chicken Curve but it has not yet flowered and so was near impossible to distinguish from the cow parsley. As suggested we will return in a couple of weeks and hopefully have more luck.
As the top of the bank at Chicken Curve looked reasonable we had a chat with Dave Drew (on crossing duty) and decided to take the chipper down to Dixton Yard and clear the willow that could not be burnt last week. This was completed and we finished reasonably early at about 12:30.
Chris and I also checked out the split tree on the Malvern side. This is actually a very large apple which has lost half it's root and has fallen down the bank. It is still half rooted and is now in full leaf with fruit on. It is in no danger of sliding and is far enough up the bank not to be a problem this summer so we agreed it should be left and dismantled as part of the November work plan.
Chipper is running fine but needs the blades switched if it is to deal with more hard wood.
On return we could see the beer festival in full swing on a great day for drinking and watching the odd train.
Lawrence
